The Garage Music Programme

youth music gig

thursday 19 november, 7pm (approx. 75mins)

The Garage is proud to present an evening of live performances from the talented young musicians taking part in our Youth Music-funded programme.

Join us in our theatre for a relaxed and welcoming showcase, featuring cabaret-style seating and performances from some of our emerging local artists. Our café/bar will be open throughout the event, serving refreshments for you to enjoy during the evening.

We warmly invite you to come along and support these young performers as they take to the stage and celebrate the progress they’ve made through the programme.

Thanks to the generous support of Youth Music, this is a Pay What You Can event. Tickets will be live on our website soon, with optional donations welcomed on the night via collection buckets or card payment.

All donations received will support our charitable work and help us continue fulfilling our vision: “To transform people’s lives through the arts.”

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Youth Music for making opportunities like this possible and for their continued support of young people in our community.

This programme is delivered by The Garage Trust, backed by Youth Music, thanks to the National Lottery via Arts Council England.

We’re a national charity. We help marginalised young people to make and monetise music. Every year, we raise £10 million to fund inspirational grassroots music projects and support aspiring young creatives up and down the UK. We’re campaigning to break down barriers for young people facing inequity, exclusion and discrimination.

Together with our partners, we’re helping the next generation to transform their lives through music. Join Us.

The Garage Music Programme will be delivering free, weekly, term time, group music sessions for young people who are facing challenges or difficulties and who would benefit from engaging in music. The aim of the programme is to help young people develop music skills, increase their confidence, find ways to positively express themselves, improve their communication skills, make friends and have fun.

Young people who engage in the Music Beginners Sessions can also attend weekly one-to-one or very small group Instrument Lessons that aim to help them increase their music skills so that they are able to progress.

Participation is free, and we can take referrals from parents, guardians and professionals.

This programme is funded by Youth Music. It is important for parents, referral partners and the young people to be aware that we will produce reports for the funder each year on the impact of the work on the young people and the success and learning from the work. These reports may also be published inline and shared with other stakeholders.

Young people, parents, guardians and referral partners will need to be aware that over the course of the programme we will gather information to share with Youth Music which may include the following:

  • Age, ethnicity, gender identity of young people
  • Barriers to participation that the young people face
  • Case Studies on the impact of the programme and journey of the young people
  • Photos of young people taking part in sessions and performances
  • Videos and recordings of the young people taking part in the music sessions, performances
  • Music video that are produced as part of the programme
  • Music Recordings that are produced as part of the programme
  • Impact Interviews with young people, parents, guardians, referral partners, tutors, support workers and volunteers
  • Feedback from young people, tutors, parents, guardians and referral partners in the form of recorded focus groups, paper feedback forms, or emails with questions relating to impact and skills development
