FRONT OF HOUSE ASSISTANT

Part-time, 16 hours per week

We are looking for a motivated and passionate individual to join our Front of House Team. Based on the busy reception desk, the post holder will be the face of the organisation for all enquiries.

VOLUNTEER STEWARDS, DEPARTMENT: FRONT OF HOUSE

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our volunteer team. You will perform a vital role as the public face of the theatre during our performances, ensuring that our customers have an enjoyable and positive experience.

The role of the Volunteer Steward is to provide a high-quality experience for customers of The Garage. Responsibilities will vary for each performance and support and supervision will be given from the Duty Manager.

Kickstart scheme
CASUAL TECHNICIAN

As a member of the technical production team, the post holder will provide high quality technical support (including lighting, sound, AV and stage management) and maintenance for all venues and equipment.

The position is based at The Garage, Norwich, with occasional travel to King’s Lynn paid for in expenses.

Social Media Marketing Assistant (KICKSTART ROLE)

We are looking for a passionate individual to join our team. Based in the busy marketing team, the postholder will promote our performing arts venue and offering. Working closely with the Marketing & Sales Manager, the postholder will support the Marketing team in running The Garage’s marketing campaigns and social media accounts.

Build your confidence, learn vital transferable skills and gain real experience of working in the Arts & Cultural sector with this Kickstart Scheme placement.
 
The Kickstart Scheme is a government fund, creating hundreds of thousands of paid, high quality 6-month work placements, aimed at those aged 16-24 who are on Universal Credit.

FREELANCE SUPPORT WORKER

We are looking for motivated individuals 18+ who have a desire to help others and have an interest in the arts. You would join our busy team as a support worker, working with and supporting our children and young people through their chosen art form. 

You will be supporting the lead tutor in session delivery and planning when necessary, engaging people positively and in accordance to relevant Garage policy, procedure and best practice, paying particular attention to child protection and equal opportunities. Helping encourage raised aspirations, foster positive citizenship, tolerance, empowerment and community cohesion across all ages and cultural backgrounds, ensuring regular feedback between you, the lead tutor and Project Manager where necessary. Identifying Gifted and Talented students within the session and report this back to the tutor, Project Manager and any other relevant partners.

You are responsible for providing information for DBS checking.

SUMMER VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES – BUGSY MALONE (CHILDREN’S THEATRE PRODUCTION)

Each summer we spend two weeks rehearsing a production and this culminates with 4 performances in The Garage theatre. The cast is made up of 50 young people between the ages of 7 – 18 years old. You will be part of the creative team that is bought together for duration of the production.

Technician – Lighting & Effects
We are seeking a motivated individual aged 18+ to join our busy summer production team as volunteer technician. You will be working alongside the director to design the lighting and effects, for our children’s summer production of Bugsy Malone. 

Support Worker
We are looking for motivated individuals aged 18+ to join our busy summer production team as volunteer support workers. You would be working with and supporting our children and young people, ensuring they are happy and cared for during the rehearsals and performances of our Big Summer Production of Bugsy Malone

Stage Manager
We are looking a motivated individual aged 18+ to join our busy summer production team as a stage manager for our children’s production of Bugsy Malone.  You will be working alongside the director to keep track of the movements of cast in the backstage areas, ensuring the cast are quite, focused and ready for their cues during rehearsals and performances. You will be responsible for following the rehearsal schedule and being a ‘runner’ for the director helping them to effectively communicate with the staff team and cast around the building during the rehearsal period.

Props, Dressing and Decor
We are looking for 2 motivated individuals aged 18+ to join our busy summer production team as volunteer props, dressing & decor makers. You will be working as part of the creative team helping to source and make the props and decor for our children’s summer production of Bugsy Malone. 

Costume and Wardrobe Support
We are looking individuals aged 18+ to join our busy summer production team as volunteer costume & wardrobe support, helping to make costumes and accessories for 50 children over a two week period. 

TIME COMMITMENT
11 days of the production from 15th – 27th August (excluding 20th and 21st August). 
Teambuilding & Training Wednesday 27th July 9.30am-3.00pm.
