The postholder will play a key role in coordinating the day-to-day delivery of our Participation programme, ensuring participants, tutors and families receive clear and timely communication, whilst producing a portfolio of high-quality performances, events and projects.
You will provide administrative and practical support across the department, helping activity run smoothly and taking a proactive approach to participation, retention and sales.
As part of the role, you will also undertake regular Front of House duties from our busy reception desk, acting as a welcoming face of the organisation. You will greet building users, answer enquiries in person, via email and on the telephone, and proactively promote our building, programme and activities wherever possible.

- Fixed Term, 12 month contract.
- 40 hours per week: 860 teaching hours per year minus 400 hours remission = 460 teaching hours per annum
Leading and managing our Education Department which includes our Dance & Drama GCSE provision, our Alternative Education provision, our Outreach and Schools activities. Working with our Executive Director on our Primary Arts-Based Learning programme. Delivery a range of classes on the Education and Participation programmes of work. Managing a team of core and freelance delivery staff.

SCRATCH at The Garage is an opportunity for East Anglian creatives working in live performance to explore a burgeoning creative idea. At the earliest stage of a development project, we know that a nurturing, compassionate and creative environment, and the chance to open the work up to public discussion, is invaluable. Whether you’re working in theatre, music, dance, or across live performance disciplines we’re keen to hear from you. We’re especially interested in hearing from artists exploring visually-led work.
Artists will receive:
- Up to 5 days of free studio space
- A public sharing of the work, alongside three other artists, to an audience including invited industry guests
- A public feedback session after the sharing
- A quarter-share of box office takings
- Up to 6 hours of mentoring from The Garage Creative Team, including in the room guidance and follow-up evaluation session

CASUAL TECHNICIAN
As a member of the technical production team, the post holder will provide high quality technical support (including lighting, sound, AV and stage management) and maintenance for all venues and equipment.
The position is based at The Garage, Norwich, with occasional travel to King’s Lynn paid for in expenses.
Social Media Marketing Assistant (KICKSTART ROLE)
We are looking for a passionate individual to join our team. Based in the busy marketing team, the postholder will promote our performing arts venue and offering. Working closely with the Marketing & Sales Manager, the postholder will support the Marketing team in running The Garage’s marketing campaigns and social media accounts.
FREELANCE SUPPORT WORKER
We are looking for motivated individuals 18+ who have a desire to help others and have an interest in the arts. You would join our busy team as a support worker, working with and supporting our children and young people through their chosen art form.
You will be supporting the lead tutor in session delivery and planning when necessary, engaging people positively and in accordance to relevant Garage policy, procedure and best practice, paying particular attention to child protection and equal opportunities. Helping encourage raised aspirations, foster positive citizenship, tolerance, empowerment and community cohesion across all ages and cultural backgrounds, ensuring regular feedback between you, the lead tutor and Project Manager where necessary. Identifying Gifted and Talented students within the session and report this back to the tutor, Project Manager and any other relevant partners.

FREELANCE MUSIC TUTOR
The Garage is looking for a skilled and engaging music tutor to run our Rock School Beginners programme.
Participants attend this weekly class to build confidence and skills, exploring songs they are familiar with, developing knowledge of song structure and music making, and exploring a range of instruments. They build towards in class sharings and performances as appropriate.

There are several ways you can volunteer at The Garage in 2026, from supporting in classes to chaperoning at events and performances. Whether you want to upskill, gain hands on experience in the studio or be part of buzz of putting on a live show, we’d love to hear from you.
We are looking for motivated individuals aged 18+ to join our team as Supporting Volunteers. You would be supporting our participants in our busy programme of performing arts classes, showcases and events, ensuring they are happy and cared for. You’ll work with the class tutor to support focus and engagement in activities and assist with 1:1 support of young people where needed. It’s a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the studio. You’ll learn from the tutor through observing their sessions and you’ll develop key skills in supporting and communicating with young people. Full training is provided and if needed you will be supported to register as a fully licensed chaperone with Norfolk County Council.
Inductions will take place on acceptance of the position. A Volunteer Agreement will be issued.
