SUMMER 2018 STAFF HIGHLIGHTS

18/04/2018

Not sure where to start with the new season, The Garage’s staff pick out their top picks.

I am so looking forward to this year’s Big Summer Production The Beauty & The Beast, it will be great to have the dream team back working on the performance and I just love The Garage being filled with all the young performers for two whole weeks in August! I am currently writing the script and on scene 4…watch this space.

Carrie Mansfield, Creative Director

My First Panto: Jack and the Beansprout

I took my Grandsons to My First Panto last year and it was Amazing. Can’t wait to take them again this year to My First Panto: Jack and the Beansprout (30 November – 5 January).

Sandra Simpson, Book Keeper

I am most looking forward to, the scratch performance of Return of the Drunken Lotus (Saturday 16 June). This is because I am interested in supporting new and local theatre companies. And really…a throwback to kung fu flicks of the 70s and 80s, with martial arts fights scenes live on stage, what more could I want?

Rachael Morrison, Youth Arts Worker

Although a slightly geeky answer, I’m really looking forward to Restorative Approach Training (Thursday 3 May) I did this training quite early on in my career an it’s been something I’ve gone back to time and time again when having to deal with conflicts. I recommend it to anyone working with young people or those from challenging circumstances.

Adam Yaxley, Inclusion Lead

This term I am looking forward to My First Circus: The Circus Child (26-29 July). With the roaring success of the My First Panto’s, this is a must see. I will look forward to lots of juggling, tumbling and any potential flying cream pies! There surely can’t be a better way to start the school holidays, and you never know the little ones might run away and join the circus themselves!

Victoria Taylor, Outreach Co-Ordinator

Dinosaur

Really looking forward to seeing Dinosaur playing in June – every year I listen to all the Mercury Prize nominees and this jazz quartet really stood out for me this year, it’s so great to have them here in Norwich!

Chris Smith, Lead Lecturer (Acting)

I loved last year’s Actor Musicians Academy (13-24 August) performance so I’m really looking forward to seeing this year’s take on Beauty and the Beast. It’s great to see the mixture of acting and musical talent and impressive the quality of work they come up with in just two weeks.

Frances Lamb, Marketing and Communications Officer

I’m currently in a bit of a horror flick binge on Netflix, so I can’t wait to see The Unbinding (29 June) described as ‘An intense performance featuring start realism, horror, physical theatre and original new music’, I’m intrigued as to how the genre translates to theatre and what that does to the scare factor!

Emma Stanley, Development and Marketing Lead
