Dan.ce.In Project

With several of our team currently partnering with international art makers on inclusion work, now seems a good time to look back at The Garage Trust‘s involvement with the¬†DAN.ce AcCEssibility INclusion (DAN.CE IN)¬†project in 2019.

It was an Erasmus + Plus Programme which was part of the projects sponsored and funded by the European Agency for Education, Culture and Audiovisual EACEA.

It was co-funded by the Erasmus + Programme of the European Union and supported using public funding by Arts Council England.

The idea was to shatter the concept of limits. Professional dancers, instructors, social workers and functionally diverse people from Spain, Italy and the UK collaborated to create work that encourages equal opportunities through the joy of movement.

There were three conferences which took place in Spain, Italy and here in Norwich in the UK. Carrie Mansfield, our executive producer, organised the Norwich delegation.

She said at the time:¬†‚ÄúIt was really exciting to remove the restrictions people may‚Äôve placed on themselves, really open up and start playing with creativity and push ourselves. It‚Äôs sparked a desire to work with partners across the world.‚ÄĚ

We learnt so much from the collaborations. There’s more about that below from Carrie, plus some of our tutors and class participants who took part in the project.
