Our windows are decorated. Our children’s shows casts revealed. Now it’s starting to feel more like Christmas.
The fantastic CiM Signs and Graphics were here earlier in the week, transforming the front of our Chapel Field North site.
We’re also excited to welcome the two casts who’ll be sharing Christmas and New Year with us.
Hayley Thompson is playing explorer Lucy in My First: Into The Snow Globe for ages 0-5.
Elizabeth Green is Flick in Operation: Save Santa for ages 5-10. She’ll be joined by Brayden Emmanuel as her brother Seb and Rob Took as their Grandad.
The benefits of introducing little ones to the arts early can last a lifetime. Play is an essential building block for their future development. Our interactive My First shows are designed to spark their imagination, their creativity, and their social, communication and cognitive skills.
As the parent of a three-year-old, I know taking a little one anywhere can be stressful experience. Not with My First.
If you’ve never seen one before, they’re an anxiety-free introduction to theatre for ages 0-5 where you can relax and enjoy the fun just as much as them.
It’s a world where your little one makes the rules. Where they’re encouraged to be loud not shushed. Where they’re invited to get up and join in the fun, not sit still and watch from afar. Where they and you can come and go as often as you need.
If you’re already a fan, My First: Into The Snow Globe is full of all the fun you’ve come to expect. Help explorer Lucy battle blizzards, sling snowballs, and dance with a yeti.
We’ve been doing these shows for a while now. Obviously, some of your little ones aren’t that little anymore. That doesn’t mean the fun’s over. We’ve poured some of that My First magic into Operation: Save Santa .
Ho-ho-NO! Santa’s in peril and only naughty and nice twins Seb and Flick can save him and Christmas for all the world’s youngsters.
A little more grown-up than My First, this feelgood family adventure is full of thrills, fun, and surprises.
Both shows are original stories this time round rather than pantomimes. Think Raymond Briggs, Terrible Infants, Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett, Roald Dahl.
Operation: Save Santa in particular has a classic Christmas movie brought to life feel about it. With more ups and downs than Santa’s sleigh on Christmas Eve.
Both are also part of our new mini festival – The Imagitorium. Unwrap an unmissable, seasonal selection box of fun, family activities and make some memories that’ll last this Christmas.
The Imagitorium imps are taking over The Garage with festive crafts, comedy for kids, silent discos and much, much more. We’d love to tell you more now, but we don’t want to end up on Santa’s naughty list.
Daniel Burgess, of our producing partners All-In Productions, is writing and directing both shows.
He said: “We’ve seen My First audiences grow from babes in arms to school age and we want to grow with them. It’s important for us and our audiences to still have that space where children get to experience theatre for the first time.
“Operation: Save Santa has been made with that same love, those same ingredients – just for an audience ready for a little more grown-up story. Some mild peril, some real-world themes.
“Neither are pantomimes. They’re original stories which was exciting for me and will be exciting for audiences.”
Are you thinking of taking a class? If you’re an existing participant, priority booking began on 31 October. If you’re new or haven’t been for a while, general booking opens on 14 November.
