Thank you Theatres Trust for £5,000 grant for roof repairs

Theatres

We’re celebrating after receiving £5,000 to fund urgent repairs to our flat roof.

The grant came from the Theatres Trust, which awarded a total £58,060 to 13 not-for-profit venues across the UK. It was used to help stop further water entering our studio and stage area.

Adam Taylor, our Executive Director, said: “We’re extremely grateful for this award of £5,000. The pandemic continues to bite.

“Like many venues, we’re still rebuilding our work with our participants and audiences. They have been wonderfully supportive. This grant enabled us to give them the venue they deserve.”

The Theatre Trust’s Small Grants Programme was made possible with the support of The Linbury Trust and donations from Judy Craymer CBE and Charles Michael Holloway Charitable Trust.

Jon Morgan, Theatres Trust Director, said: “We’re delighted to support The Garage through our Small Grants Programme in association with The Linbury Trust.

“The grant funded urgent repairs, ensuring this much-loved venue can remain open and continue to entertain and engage its community.

“After the pandemic there’s a real desire across the theatre sector to ‘build back better’, to improve accessibility and sustainability and widen reach into communities. Theatres also need to recover from the serous impact of the pandemic on their own operations.

“Support from grant schemes like this are vital in helping them on the road to recovery. Theatres Trust is hugely grateful to The Linbury Trust for committing to a further three years of funding, which will allow us to provide targeted support where it will have the biggest impact.”

The next round of funding applications is now open.

We recently announced our latest live theatre, music and comedy programme. This year also sees the return of our Summer Production for seven to 18-year-olds, who will be staging the iconic musical Bugsy Malone.

Our summer term of classes starts on 25 April. Priority booking is now open for existing participants looking to rebook their class and guarantee a spot.

During this time they will also get money off a second class or one of our summer holiday activities. General booking opens 14 March.
