The Garage is working with arts organisations across the county to develop accredited programmes of work for young people. Our new course starts in January 2012.
Creative and Performing Arts Course
Our new ‘Creative and Performing Arts' Level 1 course will help young people make the transition into further learning and offer practical support with progression. This vocational programme will involve trips, visits, and work experience at creative organisations around the county. It will develop their confidence, self-belief, communication skills, teamwork, leadership, motivation and creativity. It will also give students an insight into the creative industries, and the many varied, and exciting work opportunities that exist within it.
Where and when?
Two terms: Spring and Summer 2012
Every Thursday at The Garage
9am - 3pm
Start date: Thursday 5 January
Who is it for?
This course is for year 11 students, who have an interest in the creative arts.
How do I book?
Places need to be booked through schools or education providers. If you are a parent or young person interested in the course, please contact the work-related learning coordinator at your school, and let us know so that we can also contact the school on your behalf.
Coming Soon: We will soon be taking bookings for our 2 year course starting in September 2012.

Our Education, Enrichment and Learning packages
Our experienced team is used to working with schools to develop projects that meet their aims. Whether it is an activity day, a lunchtime club, after school activity, enterprise challenge day or full school performance, we are here to help. Over the years we have worked with many schools to develop activities both linked to the curriculum and as an enrichment activity. Examples include:

- Enterprise education and challenge days
- Workshops and performances for activity days
- Use of our professional theatre for school performances
- Production and technical training
- Provision of out of school drama and dance activities
- Creative and Media Diploma provision
- Provision of Arts Awards activities
- Creative projects to develop key skills including literacy, numeracy , communication and ICT
- Creative projects to help re-engage learners
