National Dance Network presents Dance3
Experience dance in a new dimension – three fresh, bite sized performances showcasing the best up and coming professional choreographers and their collaborators in one evening. Three super talented artists let their imaginations run riot creating compelling and varied performances mixing physical brilliance, music and film. Accompanied by A Blank Canvas, a foyer installation by Heather Eddington’s State of Flux dancefilm company, blending dance, film and animation.
(re)traces by Tanja Råman and Dbini Industries
Featuring the distinct movement aesthetics of Tanja Råman, stunning photography by John Collingswood and hypnotic electronic soundscape by Jon Ruddick, (re)traces create constantly-evolving maps from traces of the dancing body, exploring the world of memories.
Passing Strange and Wonderful by Ben Wright/bgroup
passing strange and wonderful is an intense physical conversation for two, framed by a rectangle of fluttering light. Evoking a sense of something partially remembered, the piece explores the insatiable and unattainable desire to break through the shell of another.
Silence Speaks Volumes by Freddie Opoku-Addaie
This award-winning evocative and explosive work weaves a rich, multicultural movement vocabulary with powerful partnering and expansive gestures. The compelling soundscore combines cello with sampled lyrics from traditional Ghanaian Asante tribe music.
