The Garage is launching a new Arts Award Open Centre, and we are looking to recruit volunteer Arts Award Advisers.
We are looking for motivated individuals 18+ who have a desire to help others and have an interest in the arts. This opportunity is for those with some experience of working with Young people or those who are looking to extend their skills to become Arts Award Advisers. In return, we ask that you commit to a 6 month volunteer programme with us (Minimum 1hr per fortnight), where you will support young people through the award in bespoke projects to suit your availability, and receive guidance and mentoring from one of our experienced advisers, as well as the option to receive support to set up your organisation as an Arts Award Centre.
What is Arts Award?
Arts Award is a range of unique qualifications that supports anyone aged up to 25 to grow as artists and arts leaders, inspiring them to connect with and take part in the wider arts world. www.artsaward.org.uk
How does an Open Centre work?
Young people work towards their awards using Arts Award centres as a base, in addition to working independently. The Garage receives a number of requests from individuals and small groups who would like to undertake the Arts Award. As an Open Centre, we will collate these requests and ‘match’ young people with a volunteer adviser who can arrange to meet them on a bespoke basis and guide them through the process.
Who can be an Arts Award Adviser?
You must be over 18, hold a current enhanced DBS and as a guideline have 2yrs experience working with young people (or 3yrs part time). A full person specification is available on request.
What’s in it for me?
- Subsidised training accredited by Trinity College London (worth up to £190)
- Guidance & support in your first year of delivery from an experienced adviser
- Support to set up your organisation as an Arts Award Centre to broaden your offer to your young people
- Travel expenses paid
