Get Started with Dance & Production
Funded by the Lind Trust and Arts Council England, Get Started with Dance & Production is a Free Training Programme, which will be running over 10 days from Thursday 10th March to Friday 25th March. Young people can follow a Dance Pathway lead by The Garage, or a Production Pathway lead by Open. They will work together to stage an informal showcase of their work at the end of the project. The programme will take place at Open Youth Venue, Norwich.
It is specifically targeted at young people Not in Employment, Education, or Training, aged 16 to 25, who would like to learn new skills and gain new qualifications.
Dance Pathway - 10th - 25th March 2011 ( part time)
• Have a go at different styles of dancing, break dance and street dance, and work towards an informal showcase of work, with professional dance artists from The Garage, a specialist creative and performing arts organisation for young people.
• Explore different pathways in dance, meet professionals, and develop skills
Production Pathway - 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 25th March 2011
• Have a go at lighting, sound and theatre production. Learn how to set scenes, wire a stage ready for bands, DJ's and performers. Work with leading industry professionals from OPEN and Saturn Entertainments who have worked with acts such as Kano, Example, Akala, and Basshunter.
• Explore different pathways in sound and lighting engineering, learn on industry standard equipment, meet professionals and develop skills.
There will also be 3 months of after programme support which is there to help explore and access employment, further education, training, or volunteering opportunities. Young people's travel costs will be re-imbursed.
Young People who are interested in this programme must attend an Information/Taster Session on Friday 3rd March at Open Youth Venue, Bank Plain, Norwich.
