When we were reliant on the state
  • Overview

Following the company’s debut show from the Edinburgh Fringe Freshers. Six Toes Theatre brings you another brand new piece of writing.

Becca and her mum live off the UK’s benefits system. When Becca begins to cause trouble at school she finds herself without a roof over her head for the very first time. Following her footsteps, we meet members of the homeless community within her city and Becca is faced with a hard decision. Does she face the obstacles in her life and go back home? Or does she stay with her new found freedom and friends? However, not everything on the street is exactly how it first seems.

“We are the ghosts of their society and they’re happy as long as they can keep us hidden in the alleyways.”

A dark comedy about the cost of living written by Heather Kelly and directed by Sophie Ings.
