This class runs for six weeks and is then repeated in the twelve week term, preparing you for our Ballet Beginners classes.
Ballet Basics is suitable for complete beginners or those wanting to refresh their skills. The course will cover ballet principles in a supportive environment and will explain terminology and the purpose of each exercise as well as introducing the structure of the ballet class. It will include the basic ballet positions, barre and centre exercises and will use supporting techniques such as floor barre to build strength and prepare you for our beginner courses.
What techniques are taught in this class? Non-syllabus ballet technique
What skills are developed/improved? You will gain an understanding of the basics in ballet and be introduced to the terminology, along with making improvement to your posture, balance, core strength and developing movement memory
How is a class structured/what do we do in a class? This class will begin with an introduction to the basic positioning and understanding these positions through movement both on the barre and in the centre
What level is this class - beginner, improver, intermediate or advanced? Beginner
What should I wear to the class? Close fitting clothing which is comfortable, which you easily move in, ballet clothing is optional, you will be barefoot - ballet shoes are advised.
