Plug-In Live

We are The Garage Youth Forum. We are made up of 13-18-year-olds who create an event called Plug-In Live. Plug-In Live is a music event including many amazing local musicians and more! Our last Plug-In Live was on Wednesday 24 October 2018. Here is all the backstage EXCLUSIVE details….

We arrive at around 9am, raring for the day ahead. First, we have a briefing, talking about timings and the day ahead, our jobs and such… Then we get on with the day! The jobs were specific to any member as we chose what we wanted to do weeks ago. My job was Front of House, so I couldn’t really do anything until the end of the day. However, I did promotion. Scheduling posts and writing new ones on Facebook and managing Instagram was mainly my job. Sounds easy, right? Nope. It’s not as easy as it sounds. It requires some thought into what you’re writing and you have to ask yourself questions like ‘Will this help us get an audience?’ ‘When shall I schedule this?’ ‘How will I create suspense and entice people to read my posts?’ and way more…

After that morning, we had lunch at Grosvenor Fish and Chips in Norwich. After that, we continued our jobs including leafleting, enticing people in to our lair... Next came the good part; sound-checks with me interviewing the musicians (coming soon), asking them questions about music and more. Then Plug-In Live was getting ready for the audience and so were we!

Standing at the cloak room table, putting coats and bags inside the room. Then getting my camera out, going into the venue and taking photos.

That was my day, but everyone else had different experiences, that’s one of the great things about Plug-In Live. You get a unique experience learning about managing events surrounded with people who become friends after time. Every one of us is different, with different experiences, and different personalities. Plug-In Live is where we come together to create an event that is unique and amazing for everyone involved including the audience, the musicians, the crew and YOU.

So, come along one time.
