The Garage is situated opposite Chapelfield Gardens, in the centre of Norwich. We are close to city centre car parks and numerous transport links.

    Car parking
    There is no parking on site, but there is a drop-off layby directly outside The Garage on Chapel Field North street. Nearby parking is available at The Forum, Chapelfield and Chantry Road Car Park. There is blue badge parking on Theatre Street (opposite the Assembly House).

    Public Transport
    Norwich Bus Station
     is a 10 minute walk from The Garage. Visit or call Traveline on 0871 200 2233 to plan your route.

    Norwich Railway Station is a 20 minute walk from The Garage. For information on timetables visit or call Rail enquiries on 08457 48 49 50.

  • Booking


    All of our classes at The Garage can be booked by phone on 01603 283382, or in person at The Garage. 

    For our guest classes, please contact the individual organiser. 

    We try to keep all our prices as low as possible and to be accessible to all we offer the following discounts.

    For activities for young people (aged under 16yrs) discounts are available to:

    • Households receiving government support or benefits
    • Go4Less card holders (or equivalent schemes in other districts) 

    For activities for adults (aged 16yrs+) discounts are available to:

    • the unwaged
    • those in full time education
    • Go4Less card holders (or equivalent schemes in other districts)
    • those aged 60yrs+

    Discounted places are limited and available on a first come, first served basis.



    Tickets for performance can be booked online, by phone on 01603 598646 or in person at the Norwich Theatre Royal box office. 

    Occasionally tickets are sold through The Garage or the individual event organiser, details of this will be on the event page.


    Concessions are available to anyone under the age of 25, full-time students and anyone over the age of 65. 



    The Garage reserves the right to alter or withdraw activities or events without notice. No refunds will be given unless the activity or event is cancelled.

    If you are attending a performance or event in the auditorium, then please let us know as far in advance as possible if you have any special needs or access requirements. This will allow us to meet your needs more effectively


    • There is a flat level entrance with automatic doors
    • Each of the studios has a flat entrance and those not on the ground floor can be reached via the lift 


    • We have a loading bay outside The Garage which can be used for cars to drop off.
    • Although there is no parking on site,  the nearest Blue Badge Holder Parking is located opposite the Theatre Royal (Approximately 2 minutes away).


    • There are wheelchair accessible toilets with shower on each main floor and in dressing room 3 with colour contrast. 
    • The signage on internal doors is duplicated in braille 


    • If you would like the booking information in large print or on a different coloured paper then just let us know

    All service dogs are welcome in the building

    We have regular audio-described, captioned or Signed performances – dates are listed on individual production pages. 

    Relaxed performances are specially designed performances that have been adapted to create a supportive atmosphere for people with autism spectrum conditions, learning disabilities and other sensory and communication disorders.

  • Locomotion Café

    During the day the coffee bar serves hot and cold drinks, cakes and sandwiches. For evening shows the Café becomes a licensed bar, serving a range of wines, continental beers, spirits and ciders. 

    The Café Bar is a great place to meet friends for morning coffee, lunch and evening drinks. You can enjoy reading and working with free Wi-Fi. 

    The Café is breastfeeding friendly, they will warm bottles on request and there is a toy box and play area for children.

    Pre-order your interval drinks from the Bar staff before the show begins to avoid the wait at the bar.
