About Us
The Garage is a lively cultural venue in the city centre of Norwich. We offer a varied programme of creative activity ranging from workshops to residencies, projects and regular classes. There are activities for people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds but our special focus is young people aged 8-25. As well as in The Garage, you will also find the team out and about managing exciting projects and activities accross the region. This site explains a bit more about what we do so have a look around and let us know what you think.
Classes and Workshops
We involve young people right from the start in the design and delivery of all of our activities so whatever your interest, from break dancing to singing, you will find something for you. Check the Whats On Guide and News Room to find out about what is coming up and don't forget to join our groups on Facebook, Bebo, Twitter and Myspace.
Education
We have lots of experience developing and managing exciting creative educational projects, both as part of our public programme and with partners. We have a national reputation for our approach and regularly work alongside local, regional and national partners to ensure that we provide the highest standard of excellence both artistically and educationally. We have particular specialist expertise in supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged young people to improve their confidence, skills and aspirations. More information about this can be found in the Programme and Schools section.
Community
The Garage venue is a resource for the community and as such, many other organizations enjoy delivering their activities here. They range from large formal establishments to smaller charities, voluntary community groups and individual artists and practitioners. We aim to help groups to take advantage of our specialist facilities and enjoy being part of a lively creative community. Our supportive team is always on hand to offer help and advice and signpost you to sources of other support should you need it. Find out more about our facilities, services and ways we can help your group in our Venue section.
Business
The Garage is a charity and therefore must raise funds to help support our work for young people. One way we do this is through hiring our spaces to businesses so that they can have access to city centre meeting rooms and our stunning studio theatre. Find out more in our Business section.
"In only four years the Garage has become one of the venues that we keep an eye on, not just because of its great programme but also because of the way in which it creates participatory pathways for young people to get involved and be creative about who they are. The Garage shines like a beacon of activity and inspiration" Andy Farrell Readman, Head of Community and Education, The Lowry
